Former Blue boy headlines Summer Wave
SIMON Webbe will headline this year’s Summer Wave concert.

The former member of boy band Blue will perform for almost an hour when he takes to the stage in Saumarez Park on Sunday 16 July. Simon has been the most successful of his bandmates. Since launching his solo career, his album Sanctuary has gone triple platinum. Son of Dork and former Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon are also on the bill. The line-up will also include Friday Hill of former Blazin' Squad fame and several up-and-coming acts including Icelandic girl-band Nylon, who have toured with Westlife, and new boyband 365 who will launch their debut single in August.

This will be Simon's second visit to Guernsey, he first came in 2002 when Blue performed at Beau Sejour. Since launching his debut album Sanctuary in November it has remained in the top 30 of the album chart since. He is responsible for all the tracks on the album including the singles No Worries, Lay Your Hands and After All This Time. 'My memories of Guernsey are of having a good time so I am really pleased to be coming back,' he said. 'It's a very exciting time venturing out by myself to launch a solo career and I have an action-packed diary leading up to the July gig. It is a privilege to be asked to headline the event and I'm looking forwared to injecting energy and pace to ensure the day ends on a high.' Son of Dork was formed by James Bourne who was in Busted until the band split last year. The band has shot to success with its first single Ticket Outta Loserville last November. Liz McClarnon has been busy since Atomic Kitten split and recently released her first single, a cover of the Barbra Streisand classic Woman in Love. Friday Hill, featuring Kenzie formerly of Blazin Squad, will also be performing. Completing the UK line-up is Icelandic girl band Nylon who are very successful in their home country and will be supporting Girls Aloud when their tour starts next week.

'We are incredibly excited with the UK line-up of acts, which include a mix of well-known names and others on the brink of success,' said Wave Telecom's managing director Tim Ringsdore. 'the line-up will appeal to all ages and we are also yet to announce the four lucky local bands and dj who will be chosen to share the stage with these talented performers.'
